    In California, all you have to do is turn in the title document with the back filled out with the sales information. Your liability to the car is release once that is turned in to the DMV. If he has a suspended license that doesn’t matter, just remember to turn the sales/title documents in as soon as possible to remove yourself as the owner of the car.
